This is the drink that Fred Elliot (from Corrie) used to drink I know what Scotch is as I am a barmaid, no idea what thread is

its actually a threat, and the barmaid threatens to pour some water in but doesnt actually do it, thus its a neat whiskey with the threat of water

It's not thread it's threat! Where you threaten the scotch with water, meaning just add only a little bit. :-) xx

water... "thret" comes from "threaten it with water" ( a small amount )

just whiskey you have 'threatened' with water...ie...a dash of water...
