Are you always givien time off after AIT?

I've heard that you're given time off after BCT and AIT. But I've also heard conflicting stories. So what is it? For how long?

I think it depends, most of the ppl he went basic with had the same MOS so they loaded up in a bus and drove straight to AIT without a break at all. The ppl that had AIT at the same base a BCT got some time off though. And then he got 14 days between AIT and his first duty station. But that also depends.If you have more schooling after AIt like paratrooper or something. I remember alot of my husbands friends going to that immediatly. You can choose to go striaght to your station.

I think it depends on the unit you're going into. You've earned leave during the time you were at training. If you've been there 4 months, you've earned 12 days leave. I wouldn't see why taking a few days off before going to your duty station would be out of the question. Go through your 1SG for the DA31 to request leave. I would keep about 5 days in there, though, just in case of emergency.

This all depends on the training you will need for your MOS. Most people get a leave after AIT. The point is, you get it, when you get it.
