I met this really interesting guy online and we have chatted for a about a week now. He and I both like each other thus far, and am considering going the friends becoming maybe something more route to a relationship. We both have an enormous amount of things in common. Like its almost scary we have that much in common. Do you think its possible to have too much in common with a boyfriend/girlfriend? Honest opinions only please.

He is driving down this weekend and we are going to see how things go on the initial meeting. I am being cautious and doing all the normal safe things. Not to worry there. I just wanted some opinions is all. I know all about the whole meeting someone off-line and the online world is totally different also. However, I feel that it's like seeing someone in a bar and thinking hey I like that person..gonna go talk to them..What's the difference? You don't know them from the next person right? Think about it!

Yeah, hold up, if you have only known this guy for a week and only online, I would definitely stay very cautious.

Until you have met this person, spent time with them and seen how they are in general, you won't ever really know if you two actually have a lot in common.

In regards to having too much in common, it will also come down to chemistry. Yeah, there are people in this world that you will have tons in common with, with 6 billion people in this world, it is a very likely thing.

BUT.

Sometimes, you might come across someone who seems to mirror your interests, beliefs and natural characteristics, but, there is something missing... you will only get your answer once you meet this person and see how they truely are over time.

Good luck and stay safe.

Its ok to have something in common at first so that you'll have something to talk to during the early stage. But in my experience (ratio of 1:10), 3 should be common and 7 should be not. Because you will not grow anymore meaning He can't share anything with you. Because you know what He knows. Or vice versa. Much better if both of you also have something that is NOT in common so both of you can share / tell something to each other.

It's very important to have things in common but some differences are needed too to keep things interesting. Stay safe.

I think if you never ever disagreed on anything, or have seperate likes and silikes, you would run into trouble.
It's great to have alot in common, it means you've got alot to talk about and plenty of things to do that you'll both enjoy...It would just be dull if there was nothing that you didn't have in common.

well it's only an opinion but i do believe it is possible to have too much in common. Doing everything together can lead to boredom in a relationship and lets not forget the old saying "Opposites attract".....

Slow down, you've only known him for a week...online! Be careful!!! Having things in common is always good.

Not at all. The girl that stole my heart (and unfortuanately ripped it up and threw it back in my face), and I had almost everything in common. It was probably the best relationship I had, even though it was one of the shortest.
