I need to lose a lot of weight but I'm kind of on a time limit. So my question is- If I go on a strict low carb diet, take fiber and vitamins, drink a lot of water, give up all soda, and exercise every day..how many pounds do you think I could lose by april?

is there anything else I could do to accelorate my weight loss?

It is usually considered unsafe to lose more than 2-3 pounds per week. The drastic change in lifestyle you've outlined would be such a shock to your system that it might not work out as well for you as a much more flexible, friendly program.

In general, drink water throughout the day (try to have a glass at every meal even if you drink something else with the meal too). Eat a larger breakfast and a smaller dinner, and stop eating 3 hours before you go to bed. When working in exercise, start light and increase it every week.

If you're really serious, and you can afford the food and expense of dieting, give some of that money to Weight Watchers. Go to the weekly meetings. You'll get MUCH better information from them than you will from anywhere else on the planet.

Above all, be kind to yourself, and find a method that works for you, that you can stick with and that you believe in. And when it starts to get easy, you just have to fight it all the more and continue to plug away. You can do it, and good luck to you.

If you just wanted a number, I would estimate 30-40 pounds is as much as you could safely lose by April 1st. Maybe more, but I don't know that it would be safe for you. Don't beat yourself up though if you "only" lose 10-20.

P.S. a tip I use when losing weight - think of your first 16 pounds as a bowling ball. You are now carrying one less bowling ball around with you 24/7.

You might be on a time limit but you don't want to lose weight too fast, it isn't healthy. Everyones body is different so you really can't say, well if I do this and this, how much weight will I lose by this month. If you work hard at losing weight and drink alot of water and walk.. you'll lose weight... but losing weight is something you have to be commented to doing, especially if you have a significant amount of weight to lose. I used to be over weight, and that's how I lost mine.. I just walked all the time, and drank water, I didn't even change my eating habits, which I didn't have bad ones to begin with, but it wouldn't hurt if you do, to change them, whatever little bit helps.

I hope that you lose the weight that you want to lose.
Good Luck.

It depends on how overweight you are. If you weigh 90 pounds you cannot lose 50 pounds. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. I know a little old lady that has a nice little cell in her basement, that will feed you exactly what you need and let you excercise at least 3 times a day with push-ups, sit-ups and etc....!!! She guarantees her clients to loose 20 lbs a week.....

Naw, just kidding! If you are really serious and follow the decent program that you outlined for us, I believe that a pound lost a week should be a reasonable expectation. Good Luck!!

depending where you are starting off from, average is 1-2 lbs a week.

you shouldn't exercise every day - give yourself a few days off. one shouldn't be doing this more than 4-5 days a week. muscles need time off, too! and don't bother with low carb. eat small portions more often and treat yourself so you don't end up bingeing! one should never give up entire food groups!
