I called in sick today... that's because I really am. I have a fever so high that I could fry eggs off my chest! Stupidly, I always feel guilty for thinking about calling in sick, but sometimes you really have to take care of yourself! (especially because I want to be well for all the great entertainment I have in store for me on the weekend!!!)

As for job hunting, you should spend today getting together an excellent CV and sending to employment agencies by email. Following up by calling the agencies directly is very important to make sure that your name is at the top of their availabilty lists. This shows that you are really motivated ( othewise more often than not your CV gets binned or wiped from the system). I temped a lot over a 5 year period and have even worked in an employment agency , so I've seen that having your name at the top of the consultant's lists gets you jobs fast!

Most importantly, acting fast is essential...if you hate your job do something about it asap...there are only so many sick days you can take before your boss gets suspicious!

Good luck!

Good luck. I hope you find the job that you can enjoy. I personally dont call a sicky unless it is for real. I Learnt my lesson at school Yeeears ago. Didint want to go and play hockey in the freezing cold so made out I had a sore throat. was sent home and by the weekend I really did have sore throat and was actually off school for 8 months with what turned out to be glandular fever. Was wrongly diagnosed and after 2 months in bed was finally taken to hospital where they said I may only live a week. \luckily with steroids and the right treatment I got through it but taught me a lesson.

Good for you, good luck in finding a better job, if you are not happy at least you have made the first move in the right direction. Nothing worse in being in a crap job.

not today, but if i am sick i usually go to work,i am always fed up at work so there dosn`t seem any point of stopping at home when i am so miserable i can`t enjoy it.When i am feeling really good i often phone in sick and go out for the day.Makes sense to me.

I was sooo tempted to keep my daughter off school,as I just didn't fancy the 15 minute walk to and from in the gale force winds and rain! But she loves school (she's 7-that'll soon change,I'm sure!)-so she would think she was being punished if I didn't let her go and she wasn't poorly! So she's at school-and I look like a drowned rat!
