Jerusalem is important in Islam for many reasons. One of them is the fact that it was the first Qiblah, i.e. Muslims' direction of prayer before Kaaba in Mecca. It's also a place where the Prophet (peace be upon him) ascended to Heaven during the Israk wal Mikraj occasion. Meanwhile, as the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus (peace be upon him) took place in Jerusalem, that's why Christians view Jerusalem to be their holiest place of all. This is similar to the Jews whose prophets and Kings were born and used to be the rulers of Jerusalem, i.e. King David (peace be upon him), Solomon (peace be upon him). Specifically, the holy sites of Jerusalem for Muslims are the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock while for Christians, it has to be the Church of the holy Sepulcher, the single most holiest Church in Christendom. For Jews, their sacred place is the Western Wall of Solomon Temple, the remains of the Holy Temple which was destroyed twice in ancient times.

The Kaaba in Mecca is as I've just said, Muslims' final Qiblah, the one that we're using right now. Not to forget, Mecca is the birthplace of Islam and the place where Muslims embark in the prescribed pilgrimage, i.e. Hajj and Umrah.

Medina is regarded as city of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It's here that Islam grew and flourished so rapidly and it's from here that Muslims laid the foundation of the Islamic empires.

Peace and Love

Woollen items of clothing after moths have been at them tend to be the holiest places in this world, they are holey because the moths have eaten the wool and left nothing but their droppings behind.
Moths will eat the woollen clothing of people of any faith whether jewish, christian, muslim or any other faith or non faith for that matter, they have no respect for creed.

I dont understand why people worship these holy places and require them to themselves for religious happyness. I cant grasp the idea of needing something physical in order to grow spiritually. Like why do we need these symbolic geographic locations. It does nothing for us but cuase war. Shouldnt we be worried about whats more important.

I don't think places are holy. I think that people who believe in "holy" believe they are holy. Most places that are thought to be holy are interesting to me from a historical perspective.

Do you consider this holy?

Islam - Bukhari Volume 7, 63, Number 187:: A man divorced his wife thrice (by expressing his decision to divorce her thrice), then she married another man who also divorced her. The Prophet was asked if she could legally marry the first husband (or not). The Prophet replied, "No, she cannot marry the first husband unless the second husband consummates his marriage with her, just as the first husband had done."

Or this?

Qur’an 8:60 “Infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them.”
Bukhari:V4B52N260 “The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.’”
Qur’an 5:51 “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.”
Sahih Bukhari V6B61N577:
I heard the Prophet saying, "In the last days (of the world) there will appear young people with foolish thoughts and ideas. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for there will be a reward for their killers on the Day of Resurrection."
Bukhari [4:52:177]: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him!"
