I kind of think of tattoos as being like childbirth...you go through a whole lot of pain when you're in the moment, but then afterwards you love it so much you completely forget that there ever was any pain, and you want to do it again.

Having said that, tattoos definitely hurt, I don't care what other people say! The level of pain obviously depends on how big it is and where, the intricacy of the design and your pain tolerance, but when someone is sticking a needle into your skin at high speeds there is no way you could consider it painless. But I've found when you get your first tattoo, your adrenaline is pumping so hard at the start that you don't feel the pain as much.

Ok, honestly I don't want to scare you but, I thought it felt like I was being sliced open with a sharp knife.

My tattoo stretches from one shoulder blade to the other. I got a tribal one about 8 years ago. I decided to get it covered almost 2 years ago with pretty flowers and the pain was the same, I had forgotten the feeling, but it all came back to me! It took just over 2 hours and at the end of the 2 hours, I was ready for it to be over.

I remember saying after wards, that I would never get anymore, but the pain is gone and I'm ready for another!! They are very addicting!

A tip: Don't take a break in the middle of your tattoo!! Don't let the adrenaline leave your body!

Depends on where you get it really, where nerves lie etc etc. The actual tattooing itself feels sort of like a hot pen point. Your personal pain tolerance would play a big part. Also how nervous you are :p I just had a friend get her first one and she was scared and jumpy as hell but she was fine once it was all started.

Put it this way: I got one on my head and it didn't hurt at all. Places where the skin is more sensitive will hurt or where it's close to nerves and/or bone. Hurts less than piercings because there's very little pain afterwards.

It really depends on the person and how much pain they can take... just look at it this way 2-3 hours of pain for a life time of memories...I don't tink they hurt and I have 13 tattoos

Depends on where you get the tat & how sensitive you are to pain. Most tattooists will tell you what you need to know if you're a first timer, don't drink alchoal before as it thins the blood meaning you'll bleed more and risk washing out some of the ink.
My first one was on my shoulder, feels like a burning sensation like friction the worst part was near the shoulder bone but not bad enough to say stop.

what? when you are getting a tattoo it hurts. your skin will be a little sore for a few days after getting a tattoo. after that there is really no pain. i hope that answers your vague question.

the actual tattooing isnt too painful, more annoying or irritating. the healing of the tattoo feels sort of like a bad sunburn, which is pretty painful, and it gets really itchy.
