processed foods like crackers, cookies, baked goods, etc.

all natural foods do not contain trans fats. well actually that's not totally true, there are some that contain trans fat but since they are naturally occurring and in such small quantities there is no need to be concerned with those.

fatty acids are used to construct cell membranes. trans fatty acids because of there molecular structure do not align properly with other healthy fatty acids. so they create imperfections in cell membranes which make them susceptible to infection from bacteria, virus, etc. this is why people who have diets high in processed foods are constantly sick and generally not healthy.

Read the ingredient labels. Trans-fats are disguised as: Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Shortening, Margarine, Vegetable Fat or Non-dairy Creamer.
