is there a belief in sin, if so, how does a person redem themselves from an act of sin?

Of course when you do something wrong you have sinned even as small as throwing rubbish in teh street as small as giving your back to your parents and walking away, as small as not giving a thirsty animal something to drink. you redem yourself by praying to God asking for forgiveness adn you must know you have sinned adn nver do such sin again. In this case you are forgiven. We are all humans and we sin every moment of our life.

There is sin where there is disobedience to the One True God due to ignorance.
The way out of sin in to read the Holy Books and consciously put the sacred verses into practice.

yes, in islam there is too much things that if u do it called sin.
if u want stop what is named sin in islam. try to pray to much. when u pray and call god, angles will come down from the sky and pray for u too. god listen to u. when u strongly want to change urself, be sure that god will lead u. god is always around u and love u too much, even when u do sin.
god love u , and he want that u call him, and leave all things that make ur heart dirty. god want from u to dont do sin, because he want u to back him.
