The answer is simply that your digestive tract is allowing too much air to enter the undigested faeces which could be caused by incomplete digestion or foods that react to your stomach. You probably need to look at what you are eating and your stress levels in general. Otherwise, I wouldn't let it concern you unduly, apart from the flush problem! And hey, not a nice question but an interesting one! And it's probably in the national interest anyway!

I always heard that floaters are because of too much fatty food. Might not be. Just get a bucket of water and put down at the same time as you flush.

You are eating too many high fat foods. This is what causes the stool to float. It also causes the bad odor when you pass gas Cut out as many fried foods as you can.

oh you poor thing how annoying! i would say you are eating to much fibre in your diet and its absorbing the fats- and fat floats in water. give yourself a mini detox (with advice for your particular problem) and give your body chance to start working properly again- you wouldn't want to get more health problems. I don't know what the site is like cause i've never been on it but there is a channnel 4 link to 'you are what you eat'. by the way i admire you for asking the question thats really on your mind. hope it goes away soon x

Poop floats because it has a high fat content. Eating alot of veggies will also give you more gas and if gas is trapped in your poo it can make it float also.

I haven't eaten meat for 17 years and mine don't float so it has nothing to do with not eating meat....it could be the change in your diet if you have recently stopped eating meat and your body needs time to adjust. There is some interesting information here....

You have a lot of fibre in your diet. Since the human digestion system cannot digest certain fibre, it comes out. While the fibre is in your digestive system, it soaks up fats, thus when it comes out, it is loaded with fats and that's what makes them float.

This is the healthiest for your bowls, it shows you are getting enough roughage, that's your vegi diet. Try putting some toilet paper on top, not too much though or it'll block the toilet.
