CHRIS - "Of course not, our culture and morals have moved a long way since the desert dwelling, bronze-age, founders of this religion. "
Then just maybe god doesn't hate gay people anymore?
You can't pick and choose parts of the bible that fit your cause.

This happened during a select period of time when
God was trying to produce a pure sect of people for the special mission of cleaning up and converting the rest of the world.
These rules only applied to Israel. Mosaic Law is no longer in application today. We have a new covenant - The New Testament. Also this type of Law was common in the rest of the world at this time. Most any behavior that was considered wrong or misunderstood was eliminated by those around them.

Back when the law of Moses was written, it was to be taken literally. However, since the coming of Christ, we have been freed from the bondage of the law. So the answer, as far as the verses you mentioned is, "No."

One more thing: the Bible has both literal meanings as well as metaphoric interpretations. You have to take it in context to be able to understand that. Peace.

dude that is how it was before Christ fulfilled the law by keeping it ALL and hence freeing us to the new covenant that he bought with His blood. The Law was so harsh, to let us know how sin full we are and the need of a savior

If a father tells his kids to do something, you bet he wants it done. The same is of our Heavenly Father

Christ spoke in Parables allot, so to say take it literally I would not, but I would search and find true meaning and then follow.

Well we can certainly do without you and your verses.
The Bible can be taken Literally if you are of the tribe of Abraham. That is were this comes from After the Creation of ADAM and EVE the first of the tribe we call Israelites and the parents of Abraham.

Of course not, our culture and morals have moved a long way since the desert dwelling, bronze-age, founders of this religion.

I'd take you seriously if you don't trim the hair from your temples or wear cloth of mixed fibres.

The Word of God is there as a guideline for us to live by and many people distort His truth and turn from Him because they do not understand.

You are citing the Old Covenant, with its 6oo laws.
Jesus had done away with this arrangement.
Jesus instituted the New covenant, with only two laws. love god [ his Father] and love your neighbour.
If you love God, you will obey all God's laws.
If you love your neighbour, you will do him no harm.

The Levitical law is fo the Jews. It exists for two reasons.
1. To help the Jews identify what sin is.
2. To keep sin from within their midst.
So, should the bible be taken literally? Yes. should we enforce Levitical law? Only if you are a Jew in Isreal.

The law exists for condemnation, Christ for grace and salvation.
