it gets red and sore sometimes, but only for a day or two, and then it's better for awhile, and then it gets red and sore again...also, the skin around the piercing (on the outside) gets really dry and flaky. it's always peeling a bit, even though i carefully wash it with mild soap and warm water, and then moisterize it with a really gentle moisterizer everyday. i am wearing a stud made of surgical steel. am i doing something wrong? i have my ears pierced and i don't get any of these problems with them.

I'm no doctor but somehow I got a tiny scratch on the inside of my nose and it's taken months to heal and it still hurts, so I think the nose doesn't heal fast, I dunno though... I do have piercings that I got done over the summer, and those have taken a long time to heal as well. The piercings are not in my nose.

This is ok. I had my nose pierced when I was 19. I went through the red, inflamed painful stuff for months. I thought it would never heal. A Year later, the slightest bump still made it really angry. However, it did heal. It took a very long time, but I can honestly say i'm 29, I still have it in, and I don't remember the last time I had a problem with it. I believe my body gave in to it sometime in the second or third year. Don't give up. It'll be ok.

you may be experiencing a reaction to having a foreign body in your nose. even worse, you could have an infection. it sounds like something you should have your primary care doctor take a look at.
