Use the velcro rollers. Completely dry your hair before rolling. Once they are in, run your hairdrier over your hair on a very low heat setting. You want to slightly warm up the hair. Then leave them in for at least an hour, but the longer the better. When you take them out, unroll them, don't pull them out. Your hair will be curly, but not spirally. Don't brush it because it will just frizz out.

After using velcro rollers you spray it so the curls stay in place. Put it on dry hair by the way. And you don't have to brush it after. I've used velcro rollers many times but unfortunately for me since I have thick hair, the curls come out very quickly even with spray but if you have thinner hair it should last much longer.

Velcro rollers will give you a gentle body and soft waves, hot rollers will give you curls.
Velcros dont need an hour, they just need to cool well... 10 mins will be fine.. Unless you heat them and cool them a few times.. that will help. Once they are cold, they cant do anymore work as the hydrogen bonds have already re set in the hair.

Velcro rollers are awesome! Here is what i do, my hair is semi long but managable. After the shower I comb it out with a wide tooth comb, then i put John Freida's Hair Serum through the ends so it won't frizz, then I blow dry it. After that I roll my hair. Now i got my rollers at sallys beauty supply and i have the huge purple rollers. After that I spray my hair with Suave ultra freeze hair spray spritzer stuff, now I make sure i get up underneath the rollers for more volume, but don't spray too close or your hair will be hard! then i hit it with the blow dryer, on high setting. Then I put on my makeup with the rollers still in. Then I hit it with the blow dryer again for longer. Then I put it on a cool setting. Then I take them out and bend over and hit it with cold again and hello volume!! try it out one night when you're not doing anything just for a test. :) happy blowing!

hot rollers always make my super straight hair very curly (not wavy). I just got a ceramic curling iron and that works best because it is easier to control the amount of curl. I love rollers but I always got too much curl with them. If you do use curlers just don't leave them in very long. I've used foam but not velcro. Those might give a lighter curl since there is no heat.

Velcro rollers are better.
First, let your hair become semi-dry. Second, apply hair mousse. (I don't like hair sprays because it makes the hair too stiff.) Third, use the velcro rollers on your hair. You can then blow dry your roller-ed hair to create a semi-perm.
This will give your hair the body that you need but it is still manageable.
Hope this helps.
