We are also hear to support form strong bonds with God and our fellow men. Families are formed on this earth and if desired are bonded together forever. Our purpose is to prove obedient in the living of religion. Living of religion gives us an ideal so high that it can be seen from both sides of the valley of life. I believe we exsist to aquire experience our experience will ripen to knowledge, that knowledge will ripen to wisdom and intelligence, and our greatness in the hearafter will be in proportion to our intelligence. www.lds.org is my church's site.

Now what do you think the purpose of life is?

Reality thumper: I am not afraid of death. I love Science and I read newspapers. I believe science and all academics requires our research. We should be at the forefront of learning in all fields. Gods mysteries can come from a test tube or a lab or out of prayer and inspiration. I am dauntless in my pursuit of truth. I resist all demands of unthinking conformity! To me, I see harmony in the physical laws of this world and undesirable infininite. This implies a supreme architect to me. Does this make sense? ah man, It's late here. I'm digressing

To leave a positive significant mark to the world, country, community, or families, or individuals when we leave earth. You dont just want to be a consumer on earth, but also a contributor. Finally, its to fulfill God's calling and will in our lives.

There are many problems with the salvation-by works doctrine of reincarnation. First, there are many practical problems. For example:
1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, then why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering - in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught through out its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, the, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this. Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

How do you discover your real purpose in life? I’m not talking about your job, your daily responsibilities, or even your long-term goals. I mean the real reason why you’re here at all — the very reason you exist.

Perhaps you’re a rather nihilistic person who doesn’t believe you have a purpose and that life has no meaning. Doesn’t matter. Not believing that you have a purpose won’t prevent you from discovering it, just as a lack of belief in gravity won’t prevent you from tripping. All that a lack of belief will do is make it take longer, so if you’re one of those people, just change the number 20 in the title of this blog entry to 40 (or 60 if you’re really stubborn). Most likely though if you don’t believe you have a purpose, then you probably won’t believe what I’m saying anyway, but even so, what’s the risk of investing an hour just in case?

You are basically right. It is a test and a gift, we form bonds with God and eachother, but... our purpose is not necessarily to prove we are obedient. Laman and Lemuel did all the good things Nephi did; they built the boat, they went and got the brass plates, etc. However, they did not do it willingly - obedience is not the only requirement, but willing obedience. Our purpose of life is to become like God that we may exist in the exalted portion of the celestial kingdom at the final judgment.

We are arrogant and naive to think that the universe is somehow designed to give us immortality just because we are uncomfortable with the idea of death. You come across as an intelligent person who has been thoroughly brainwashed. Read some newspapers, learn a little science and use an open mind to try to reconcile reality with what you have been told you should believe. Of course, I'm assuming you're open to the search for 'truth'. If not, just keep your blinders on and continue on your path of blissful ignorance.

this flesh life is to give those that followed satan in the first earth age the free will to change their ways.

if a spirit chooses never to be born in the flesh then they will be consumed on judment day, just like the end of a cigarette. they will look like a puff of smoke in the beginning but soon will be unrecognizable as anything. if you were born in the flesh you have taken the first step towards etenal life. you do not have to choose any particular religion as long as you follow the 10 commandments of the Bible to the letter. Some religions provide a little leway in the commandments, allowing for you to be human by providing a sacrafical lamb who died for your sins when you believe on him, if you are trying to do the right thing.
Still other religions consider it perfect if you are just trying the do the right thing.

In the Bible God said he created mankind for His own pleasure. Is he pleased with everything he is seeing nowadays. perhaps not.

To love people despite their shortcomings and to share the Good News even if they spit at us. For it is commanded that we take the gospel throughout the world and I am not always good at doing that face to face, but am sure trying my best to answer as many questions I can in the Religion category on YA to the best of my knowledge.
If I don't know something very well I will do a search and include the link in my posts. We have to get the word out about Gods love and what Jesus did for all mankind on the cross and I feel my purpose in life is to share my love for Him in my life and in all that I do I will give God the glory!

Every one to their beliefs ,
if we lived on this planet before, and we will live again after ,if we keep on popping in and out ,when is the hereafter ?? why do we have to come back and start again from scratch,,and what happens to those 90% of people who live a life of lie ,dis functional family's, living in sin more so now then before ,have they not learned any thing from their previous life's ,
Words are easily put to gather, like you demonstrated above ,are you that person ..???
religions are the root for wars , Just look back in History
or even now ,,why do we kill our fellow man ..???
I think we can all string those words together to make them sound pretty and nice ,, To your question, to exist and procreate

The purpose of life? Get born, get married, have a child or 2,3 ... 9. And die after you did all this. I don't believe there are good or bad people, only God knows that. If you don't regret something when you're on the bad before you pass away, then you are a good man. After that, you'll probably have the result of your test. You'll know the truth.
