See the follow link for details. Surf around for the route map and fare to Xuzhou. The trip to Shanghai is just over 24 hours as there are quite a few stops along the way, so it's best to get a soft sleeper which is 4 sleeper per cabin. The deluxe is 2 sleeper per cabin. Fare starts at HK$406/US$52 for the hard sleeper during promotional periods (20% discount) Although the regular fare for a soft sleeper is HK$825/US$105.
Xuzhou stop should be just 1 -2 hours prior to Shanghai but the fare won't be much different.
P.S. If you are going, do so before Feb as the period just before and after chinese new year ( Feb 18 ) is crazy. So try and steer clear as much as possible.

11hours by train, so get a sleeper cabin, not sure how much the cost, sorry
