I can't stop calling my girlfriend my ex's name....what can I do to help me change this or tips to prevent it in the future?

Just call her Babe, nothing else just Babe. Same for your next girlfriend, and so on, and so on, and so on.
It's full proof and endearing all at the same time.

no big deal, unless it's a regular occurance. people make mistakes; maybe they are just so used to using that name that they made an innocent slip- my sister calls me by her son's name all the time, and i'm 25 years older than he is! just because he used the wrong name, it doesn't mean he's thinking of his ex, or wishes he was still with her. We're human; he cared for her, his feelings are triggered by his current girlfriend (your sis), and he used the wrong word (name). Don't look for a problem if there isn't one. Does he treat her well? Is he into her? That's all that matters.

Calling your girlfriend your ex-girlfriend's name is a recipe for disaster. You are in a rebound relationship, which is very unhealthy, so my advise to you is to get out of it so you can avoid being a jerk . You don't need that stress in your life. You're already in the grieving process and you don't even know it.
Also note, your new girlfriend doesn't need the hassle of being compared to anyone else. If you truly are interested in pursuing the relationship, I suggest that you talk with her and let her know that you are not ready for a relationship, and just be friends.
That's the only way you can prevent calling your new girlfriend your ex's name and that's doing it with style.
If you only want her sexually, then you are doing more harm than good and being a total barbarian.

Make a weekly list of wrong names to call her deliberately. Make it fun. To demonstrate:
Sunday - Agnes
Monday - Alice
Tuesday - Gertrude
Wendesday - Bambi
Thursday - My Hootchi-Cootchie Mama
Friday - Caliente
Saturday - Calipygos

start to visualize your current gf, in your mind feature her as the best thing that happened in your life
you can avoid calling names and just stick to pet names
Use the affirmaton technnique where you continious repeat a certain line until you start believing.This you can either do by writing the line/phrase down or you can recite it
e.g......(GF)....name and I feel so much in love right now
