Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood
Here an alternative way to cure gout?

He can drink alcohol its not like it will kill him. its just not wise to with gout it will raise his uric acid levels and the more uric acid the more gets deposited in his joints.Sooner or later he will be in more pain because of it.If what he is drinking really is 0% like near beer Then I would not worry but he needs to change his eating habits to a low protein low fat diet or he will pay with pain . It is a hard diet to stay on I can sympathize I have gout too.

Gout is due to the deposit of uric acid in the joints and drinking alcohol can increase the levels of uric acid in the body. This increase in uric acid increases the risk of build up in the joints.

in the first place, if its 0% alcohol, why drink it? he can always switch to healthier drink like berries juice or diluted celery juice and even distilled water.

if he don't take vegatable, try fruits - the berry, cherry stuff - and take vitamin c and b-complex
