An abscess (infection). Get to a dentist. If left untreated many things could happen. First off if you have ANY kind of heart problem (even a murmur) it could do some really bad damage. Second it could spread to your other teeth and cause major teeth problem. And last but not least, my friend had an abscess under one of her teeth. They ended up doing a root canal and didn't get all the infection out... long story short, she is paralyzed on one side of her face all the way down to her collar bone.

Abcess, go to the dentist asap, I had one last month and I ignored it, It got so bad my whole face swelled up and when they pulled the teeth I felt everyone of them come out because it was so bad that the novicaine didn't work.

It is most likely an infected abcess full of pus.

Go see a dentist.

It's called an "abscess". It's an infection. See the dentist

it could be an abcess, as everyone else has answered. there are also myriad other possibilities. You may have burned yourself on food, been chewing something sharp and it's poked you....
either way, see a dentist. better safe than sorry!

It sounds like it might be an abscess, which is an infection.

But more to the point, it sounds like you should be seeing your dentist right away
