Somewhere between 14-15 yo.
I think that if a parent is still hitting kids this old, the problem lies more with the parent than the child. The parent needs to control themselves and their own anger issues. They need to deal with their own issues before they can successfully deal with their children's issues.

My mom and I got into an argument and I accidentally kicked her leg, but it did look like I did it on purpose, She slapped me across the face. I was 16.
We both felt bad.
It actually made us closer.
You see my dad was in Prison and my brother was in the Army and over Seas in Germany.
So all we had was each other.
She was/is my best friend.

17 when my dad went in the hospital with lung cancer and he could no longer beat me with a belt buckle or pop me i the mouth with his fist. My father was very very strict. Even when I didnt do anything wrong he would beat me for GP, so I knew what was comming if I did do wrong. He loved that belt buckle and I was so glad to see mom throw it away.

My parents weren't big fans of corporal punishment. I had one whoopin' at the age of eleven when I got caught lying. I never got caught lying again.
