I'm 20 years old and play soccer at a small school in vermont. I've been very close with my former soccer coach since I was 16. However physically nothing happened between us until after I graduated highschool and turned 18. He's 31 and single( never been married) We hooked up the first time right before i left for college and have been hooking up since, we talk on the phone everyday and almost every night, he has even come to visit me a couple times at college. Some of my teammates at school know about us, but back at home no one knows. We really do care about each other, but I'm worried how my friends and family would react if we started dating. Also is there anyway our relationship could jepordize his career. Everyone likes him as a person, my parents used to take him out to dinner ect, but i feel like it would be different if they found out about us. Please Help!!

Listen, I was once involved in a relationship with a man who was 12 years older than me when I was 18. Many people found it sick, but they are ignorant and immature. Being in a relationship has nothing to do with age, it is about the chemistry you have with the person and your feelings toward eachother. As long as he is not 55 and you are 16 for example, it's fine. 31 is not that old, and if you really like him then that's what matters. People might have a different opinion but hey, you are the one dating him not them. I would honestly hold back on telling people about the relationship until you have a very strong bond with eachother and you know that what people say would not have an effect on you. Even if you don't care what people say, subconsciously it will have a negative effect on the relationship when you keep hearing that it is wrong for you to be with him. I hope this helps, Good luck!

I think it is great. YOu are old enough now. If you are really worried wait until you are 21. But, really you are 20 and in college. I can't imagine anyone thinking it is wrong.

I can't imagine it hurting his job when you are in college and a young adult.

I think it is wonderful
