It depends on the type of worms the cat has. Something as simple was round worms can be cured with an over the counter de-wormer sold at most pet stores and grocery stores. A more serious infestation such as heart worms would require veterinary attention.
If you're unsure id take the cat to your vet.

i am not sure but i think the question you are asking is literally how do you worm a cat???? Worming cats can be bloody hard i once heard a fabulous story of the way you worm a cat and i wish that i kept a copy for you because it was hilarious. It starts with the person saying Just gently grab the cat open its mouth and pop the pill down "YEAH RIGHT", by the end of the story the person is going to hospital with lacerations from her cat and ends up in the ER. Very funny.
But from a vet nurse point of view if you have a timid "I am not taking that pill", kind of cat then you are better of letting the vet do it every 3 motnhs to keep your cat covered.
If you want to give it a go i will try to explain it the best way over the internet. get yourself in a postion on the floor where you are sitting on your legs, put you cat between yours legs to hold onto it and with one hand put your hand over the top of the cats head so your fingers and thumb (on the otherside), are just under the cats jawbone (this will open the cats jaw natuarally), with the free hand (and the hand with the tablet in it) with your pointer finger just gently bring the bottom jaw down a bit more and try and get the tablet as far down the back of the throat as possible close the cats jaw and massage the throat until you get the tablet down.
PHEW Thats hard to explain but it should be down reasonably quick or your cat will be onto you.
Alternativly you could try using paste, but i personally do not like paste as you have to use alot if you have a bigger cat and then they spit it everywhere.
Or you can use a topical product like revolution, which is by far the easiest it does Heartorm, roundworm, ear mites and sarcopties mites. Oh and fleas. this is really all they need australia so it all depends on where you are in the world as to what you can use and what your cat may need.
Have fun dont end up in the ER

It depends on the type of worms your cat has. If the cat has tape worms (look like pieces of rice around it's behind) ask the vet for a pill called "Cestex". This gets rid of the worms in 24 hours.
Roundworms is also common (mostly in young cats). With roundworms the cat will have a bloated stomach. For this type of worm you want to buy a bottle of liquid Strongit-T. Buy that at the vets or some pet stores do carry it. The dose for cats is :
1 ml per every 5lbs.
I worked for a vet and the above are the meds that we gave for those 2 types of worms. You do have to know which type of worm you are treating because both types of meds work differently.
You could also take her to the vet and have them de-worm the cat for you.
I have seven cats and keep these meds at the house all the time, just in case. Good Luck!

Liquid cat dewormer from the store,,mix with food.Follow directions exactly & according to cats body weight. Or take the cat to the vet & let the vet give the meds needed. To weigh an animal..stand on a scale & hold the pet. Then weigh yourself without the cat. Then deduct that weight from the other.

Hi Dennis...there are different dewormers available depending on the parasites affecting the cat. Veterinarians use a broad spectrum dewormer which is much more effective as well as safer than any of the over the counter products.
