I am 20 years old, and I either contracted some type of food poisoning or a stomach bug last night, as I've been vomiting all day. I've been vomiting every hour or so since 10:30 a.m. My body got rid of pretty much all of the solids in my system by the afternoon. I started by drinking water: threw it up. Switched to Snapple tea: threw that up. I have no been sipping blue Gatorade, but still seem to be throwing up just as frequently.

I have had back pains off and on for months, and they are only amplified by this sickness.

ginger ale- canada dry or generic is fine. ginger actually helps to settle the stomach. make sure to flatten it some at first by stirring with a spoon. ( you can even add a teaspoon of sugar to it while stirring carbonation out)

make sure to sip a little at first, maybe a small sip or two every ten minutes. do not gulp it down, or you may try to throw up again.
you need to try to slowly rehydrate yourself. when you have kept down a few sips over an hour or so, you can drink a bigger sips, and over a few hours, try graduating to eating saltines to get yourself back on track.

if you hate ginger ale, you could do the same with any clear soda. but I have found over the years with my kids and my hubby and I that ginger ale can really help out.

Okay, I am only answering this to correct the person who said that appendicitis pain is in the lower left quadrant of your abdomen - it's usually in the lower RIGHT quadrant. If you draw a line diagonally between your hip bone and your belly button, the point right in the middle is called McBurney's point, and that's usually where appendicitis pain is located. If you are not even keeping down water or clear liquids by tomorrow morning, you need to go to your local emergency room or to your doctor, because by that point you will be seriously dehydrated. Until then, anything you can tolerate that does not have caffeine in it will be fine, be it ginger ale, sprite, or gatorade. Even water with sugar and salt stirred in is fine. Other than that, over the counter anti-emetics, like Pepto-Bismol are fine, so long as you take them according to the package directions.

Flat ginger ale or ginger root tea. Ginger is good for nausea. Try not to have more than 1-2 smallish sips at a time and then wait around 15 minutes before having a bit more.

You should take your temperature. You should drink nothing but clear liquids (flat coke is helpful in reducing nausea).

Any pain with vomiting, particularly if fever is present could be a sign of impending appendecitis.

I would get seen at an ER right away.

If you arrive there with a temperature that is elevated you are likely to be treated promptly with the symptoms you mentioned.

If the pains you mentioned are lower left seek help NOW.

Build yourself a Pink Fizzy
4oz of 7up or ginger ale, and a dose of Pepto

Back and stomach problems could be a kidney infection. You should really go get yourself checked out by a Doc.

Best choice is pepto bismol. It tastes a bit chalky but settles the stomach.

Ginger Ale is another good choice but only after the worst has passed. Saltine crackers are good in combination with the ginger ale.

Good luck.

Do not drink anything right now. If you feel like you need something because your mouth is dry, just try chewing on some ice. In a few hours, try sips of water to see if you are able to hold it down.

you know they do have suppositories that will make you quit throwing up. I don't know if you can buy them over the counter but they give them to people in the ER that can't keep anything down.
