My furnace needed to be cleaned, and my landlord tried cleaning it himself, instead of hiring professionals. He stuck a vacuem hose up in the furnace, and all the soot went in, and blew out the back of the vacuem, for he didnt have a filter on it. It primarily landed all in the kitchen, but I'm finding it throughout the apartment. Everything I touch leaves black on my hands. My 42 in Dell HD Plasma television is now acting funny. You are not even to clean the screen with windex. Soot turns greasy upon trying to clean. My landlord feels no remorse or obligation to fix it either. I am going to take him to court, but I want to know what I am talking about before I go in.

OMG ... this is not good at all! Plasma TV's run HOT and need forced air ventilation. I'm sure if you look in the back of your unit you will see the fans. If your TV was on then for sure the soot was sucked into it and even if it weren't I'm sure some found its way in. I'd have the TV inspected and if there is soot inside take pictures and have the tv guy sign an affidavit and maybe you can use that in court against your landlord.

Sounds to me like your landlord owes you a new TV- any small particles such as soot, dust, and cig smoke that get in thru the exhaust vents land on the circuit boards and short circuit the connections. They can also corrode the protective coating on the boards I've had to replace a dozen or so projectors in nightclubs that were destroyed by smoking, I see no reason why plasma televisions would be any different.

it truly is about your alternatives. to boot to the different answer, DLP is a rear projection television and is larger (bulkier) than liquid crystal reveal and Plasma. Picturewise, in case you purchase an severe priced DLP, the photo might want to be eye-catching except the black aspect. also, DLP consumes a lot less power, 150W as against four hundred-500W for liquid crystal reveal or maybe extra for plasma. it truly is for a 40 six" length. DLP is the quite-priced. LCDs are the most prevalent hence more reasonable, yet their photo isn't as ideal except you purchase a first-classification type. for my section, i'd bypass for plasma even with the reality that it prices extra money. extra agencies start up making LCDs hence the cost of the plasma is going up, yet back the plasmas have the optimal score so some distance as photo high quality.

I'm sure it could. There are usually vents on the top of flatscreens that let heat out. Soot may have gotten in there. If your warranty on the TV is still present, have Dell replace the TV.
