We have sent more troops to Baghdad (last year) and it didn't help. I don't think there is any military solution to Iraq at this point. In a civil war, how would our troops know which side to support and which side to shoot at?

We need to pull our troops back (if not all the way out) so they are not in so much danger, and start an aggressive diplomatic program of talking to the neighboring countries and getting their help to stabilize Iraq. They have an interest in Iraq not being in chaos or sending thousands of refugees into their countries.

We also need to give Iraqis jobs working on the reconstruction so they can earn a living and have a future to look forward to, supporting their families. We should have done this from the beginning because it would have headed off the insurgency.

Here's an interesting little statistic for you. In WWII you could go door to door in America and 1 in 10 houses would be a home of someone serving. For Iraq, in America, you would have to knock on 200 doors to find one family of a service person. People are concerned about how many troops we have there and also want to know what other war compares to this one. I am concerned for the troops there. Are there enough to keep them safe? Look at that stat. over 3000 American soldiers killed. I don't know the stat of the wounded, sorry for that. I saw another stat. Last year there were 34,000 Iraqis killed. Those are staggering stats. To finally answer your question, they are going whether you like it or not because the President, our Commander in Chief, has ordered it. Live with that. Why debate it? The decision is made. Only the President can change it.

The required solution in Iraq is political not military. Sending more troops will escalate the fighting and complicate the requirement of peace achievement there.

heres what i think...... my husband is in the army and has a set deployment date of May 15th 2007...... where we live has already deployed a whole bgd...... i am sad that my husband is going but i also know that it is his duty. my son and i will miss him but we are also proud of him for going....i amy not agree with Bush's plan and i know that most Americans dont however what we need to think about is all the soldiers going over there and risking their lives to keep the war there instead of here..... isnt that what Bush said? that if we pulled out that they would attack us here?

i am not sure what i am trying to say other than i dont agree that sending more troops over there will help but i also know that when you are told that you are going to Iraq there isnt a damn thing that you can do other than spend as much time with your loved ones as possible and live your life to the fullest....... support your troops in more ways than asking weather people agree with what is happening.......

no, we should support the government in iraq, but we cannot create the government or country for them. they need to do it themselves. democracy is not given but must be earned. the french helped us in our revolutionary war but they did not do it for us, they only supported us, we took the lead. that is the problem in iraq, bush thinks that he can impose democracy, or another society over in iraq, but he can't only iraqis can. sure we hope that now that we got rid of saddam that the iraqis will democratize, but really it is up to them and we need to accept what they choose to create over there, even if it is not what we would like. bush may have got rid of a dictator, but may have destroyed a nation to do it. only if iraqis want it will they keep their country as we know it.

Yes, I think that we should send as many as it takes to establish one more free country.

I think when Iraq is free and prosperous, you'll see terrified Muslims from other countries immigrating to Iraq by the thousands.
