He suffered reg with tonsillitis and some scarring on left tonsil, had gland fever, + 4 ops on a scafoid fracture in 1 year. All 2003/2004 often sick and tired bouts now but much healthier now back into rugby about to go to uni in Sept travelling to Thailand & Aus July. But no bouts of Tonsillitis in over i year much fitter now. Why suddenly stopped, why still weak stomach and oft tired spells but most import should he still go ahead with tonsillectomy He's doubtful?

i had one back in the 80's. decided it was the final straw, as i was always ill..
it was the best thing to do, as altho i still get a sore throat from time to time, its nothing like the soreness of tonsilitis.

the op isnt nice, and yes its uncomfy, but worth the discomfort!

Absolutely yes. With his history tonsilectomy is the best option.
Chronic tonsillitis can be come resistant to antibiotic and weaken the immune system causing inflammation in the liver and spleen.

As he intends travelling later this year, I would not like to risk him having another attack whilst in Thailand!

Day surgery is usually performed and home later same day.

He will feel even better when this damaged area of massive (dormant at the moment) infection is removed.

maybe you should look into whats causing his tonsils to become infected that way.it,s not his tonsils that are at falt ,they are doing there job.check out his amune system ,sounds like he is in need of supplements to build it up.good luck
