in Afganistan is NOT all about the humanitarion mission, etc. Yes, Canada is know for peace keepers, etc. But in Afganistan our soldiers are the front line troops engaging the Taliban as much if not more than every one else.
While we only have a few thousand soldiers we are one of the smaller continegents there. But for some reason our soldiers are fighting more. Just because other countries have more men there does not mean they are fighting more.
Your American media does not report these things to you. Our Canadian Prime Minister is under fire from opposition parties for allowing our Canadian troops to be on the front lines like this.
The American public just does not get told that these brave men are fighting so bravely. There is nothing humanitarian about us killing Taliban!

FYI.. I think the Amerian Army ROCKS!
You guys are awesome. I just feel frusterated at how your media does not tell you what Canada is doing to help.

Unfortunately, we Americans are a rather self obsessed lot. We are too busy worrying about Brittney's missing panties and Madonna's African baby. It is also little known that one of the first teams to get to New Orleans after the hurricane was Canadian. I, an American, thank you. Gotta go, Lindsay Lohan is in rehab.

No matter what we need to support our troops. The reason, they are the proud sons and daughters of this peace loving beautiful nation. It makes me wonder if our troops are engaged in our own war or trying to fulfil the neighbours interests. I strongly believe that there are no reason for the Canadian forces to be in Afghanistan risking their lives and spending our tax money while Canada is experiencing difficulties with other issues. If the U.S.A wants to go war with the entire world it doesn't mean Canada should be part of it. This country was well respected by the entire world for it's peace efforts and humanitarian missions until the Harper government. Now all of a sudden we are fighting in Afghanistan, there are home grown terror cells, our intelligent services investigating any body with a beard and speaks a foreign language, we are deporting Canadians to other countries to be interrogated and tortured, we are looking at our neighbours and co-worker with suspicious eyes. Gosh, a bit dramatic. Isn't it?
We do not have to be a part of the United States of America's war. The Canadian soldiers should be at home not in Afghanistan....the American Government doesn't care and the American public don't even know that our troops dying in Afghanistan for their interests.

So what do you want.. a cookie? First, your not doing most of the fighting I am not sure where you got that impression, but it isn't true. Canadians have foght mainly in the Kandahar area having two major operations last year. Second, that was your government's choice and against what most Canadians wanted. So, I say again what do you want people to say, "Thank God for saving us from the Taliban." whom have moved back into every area that had previously been cleared by American and Canadian forces.

Here's something else the media won't usually report:
The Canadian armed forces almost always fight alongside the American.
While I was in the US Navy, a Canadian ship was always with us, usually the HMCS Ottawa. I went drinking with crewmembers in Thailand when we stopped. They're great guys. We keep them around because they're a lot like us and can hold their own right beside us.
Look dude, your guys are doing the fighting because that's what they're trained to do. The other UN peacekeeping troops that are there probably took a look around, decided who was the best trained and best equipped and put them in front.
(Let me guess: the French are always in the back?)
Don't give up on them. Killing Taliban is the humanitarian thing to do. That's why they're doing it.

And do the Canadians know who all the other nations are in Afghanistan? There are many NATO countries in there too (on the offensive) and as a matter of fact Australians were in the very first wave.
The American media does not really report anything that isn't about America or Americans.

I'm a US citizen and until reading your 'question' didn't know that there were ANY Canadian forces in Afganistan. I'm sure that a majority of US citizens would tip their collective hat to our good neighbors up north and say, "Thanks for joining with us in the war on terrorism!" The US media has never been famous for its objectivity and impartiality, mores the pity.

Whatever mission our Canadian troops are employed to do, we must support them in our hearts. Regardless of your opinion on government or media, these brave people are fighting and dying, and we need to support them whole heartedly.

Not much is reported about US troops in Afghanistan either.
I recall reading about the Canadian sniper in Afghanistan who set a record for the longest confirmed kill, but that seems like years ago.

I admit, I was not aware of that fact.
I like Canadians - and I know quite a few. I live in Alaska, in a college town.....
Thanks for your service. Your efforts and sacrifices are appreciated.
You should email someone in the conservative media - Glenn Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, Rush...they might help you get the word out. The liberal media will never tell it.
