It is genetic, and some nationalities are more predisposed to actually having inherited it. It is an allergy of sorts and progressive. If you do not drink, it of course won't bother you. And if you do it will only be a bothersome topic of conversation for quite a few years. Slowly, your reaction will get stronger and by the time you're fifty, like my best friend who is half Japanese, the reactions will be things like, extreme dizziness, nauseousness, and dehydration. The systems alone will make not worthwhile or fun and can break down your immunity system, making you increasingly susceptible to any little bug that's around. You control whether you drink or not.

I have no clue, but when I drink alcohol it does the same thing to me. It eventually goes away, but my face turns red and gets so flippin' hot!
I use to think I was allergic to alcohol! I never researched it though. Maybe I should and I'll let you know if I find anything!

Alchohol is a vascular dialator - it makes the capilaries in you skin open up and fill with blood leading to the red face where there are alot of capilaries close to the surface and why brandy or wiskey or the like are said to "warn you up". Not much you can do about.

It's your genes. The only way you could stop it is to freeze all of the blood vessels in your face.
Sorry, I wish I could give you a better answer, but it's happened to me for years, and there's really nothing to do but quit drinking.
P.S. Everybody is allergic to alcohol. Some people tolerate the reaction better than others...

Yes, don't drink alcohol. You can live without it, in fact you can laugh about how stupid other people act that way.

if you're of asian decent, than usually this happens. most asian people lack a certain protein in their system so it makes them get flushed when they drink alcohol, both of my sister in laws are part asian, and this happens to them. there isn't really a health concern.
