I'm not a doctor (though i am studying to be one), but in my psychology class we just finished a unit on disorders. It doesn't sound like you have the average OCD tendencies. Sounds to me more like paranoia but i would definitely tell your doctor and maybe see a psychologist.
(OCD is usually characterized by compulsions you cannot help, most people are either checkers or cleaners or obsessions that enter your mind all the time that you can't do anything about or a combination of both)

generally these thing are not really concidered a disorder if they are not interfearing with your life. If you can't remeber if you locked the door and double check it sometimes, I think most people do that. if you can't leave the house on time because you are triple checking everything and you are late to work everyday thats a problem. if it's a preference or idiocincracy you have but you can choose not to indulge it you might just be alittle "eccentric"...what happens if you for some reason cannot complete a "ritual"? if the recation is totally out of proportion then you may have a some problem. If you are concerned about it you should get evaluated. OCD is treatable

Hey glamorous, you've always been this way and there certainly isn't anything wrong with that. It simply defines your individuality. Sets you apart from the mob.
Who wants to be one of the mob anyways?? Most certainly not me. I'm sure if you admit it, neither do you. Don't worry about your little quirks and routines, they will simply endear you to those that care about you the most, they are a part of the thread that is you. I've always had my own string of little compulsions, as you do, and I'm certain those parts of me are simply parts that my mother, sister, husband, 5 children etc.etc.etc.etc. would all be devastated without. Don't change one little thing about yourself, don't worry babe, just be happy.
PEACE
...:)
OMG I just read your first response, lolololol please don't listen to such fluff and nonense............... We all count, add, list and relist and check and check and start again. Don't worry, just be. Psychiatrist, don't think so.......... they're all the same, quote verbatim their text books but actually haven't bothered in the slightest to really get any hands on real life experience. lololol
Cheers

OMG yes! That is SO ME! I do the skittle/M&M thing. I also count stairs. My right foot always has to be the one on the last step. So...if there's an even amt of stairs...I start with my left foot and start with the right for odd amt of stairs. I literally lose my balance if I start on the wrong foot. I count EVERYTHING, actually. I also have to set everything down a certain way or it bothers me. It doesn't interfere with my daily activities or anything but it's just always there.

You answered your own question - you control the behavior when you are around others. To be classified as OCD it has to interfere with your life - at work, socially, etc. I have a friend who jokes that he is OC... he has similiar behaviors but they don't interfere with his life. If you are concerned about it or find that you are unable to control it meeting with a professional counselor/psychologist may help you overcome it.

Sounds like magical thinking. It is a component of OCD. The thing about OCD, is that if it doesn't disrupt your life, it's not that big of a deal. I wouldn't worry about it unless it is standing in the way of you living your best life.

Sounds harmless. Worry about it when it starts interfering with your daily life.
