Ok my girlfrind had a dream that she had been given an engagement ring from me, bu the point of it was that she had to hide it from her parents, what dosse this meen if anything.

She's nervous about the thought of telling her parents. One way to get around this.... be old fashioned... and ask her dad's permission to pop the question... and even if he doesn't care for the idea... he'll respect you for coming to him first!!!!

It's pretty clear that she saying her parents don't approve of you. Don't sweat it though, you'd be marrying her, not her folks. Whatever you do, don't ask her parents for permission, that's a ridiculous old tradition.
