I think we could have a nice, enjoyable dinner. We shared a lot but I struggled with time management cuz had not had a gf for a very long time. That's what drove her away. I really just want to show and tell her how much I appreciated her. She finally threw in the towel on me but I don't blame her given the work stress I was under. Anyway, I just want it to be a nice friendly dinner...nothing more, nothing less. Is that such a bad thing? even if she is trying to move on or has found someone else? It has been about 3 months with very little contact (2 years of dating). Things have calmed on the business front too. I hope I did not do a stupid thing..but if I don't ask it will NEVER happen, that I can be sure of. no response yet.

I think that asking her is not stupid. If you really are sincere about the whole ordeal then she might just say yes. Even if she doesn't, don't feel like you messed up. You seem like you have come to terms with what went wrong....and maybe if you go to dinner with her you can tell her what you just told us in your question. Let her know you feel bad about what happened and you would like to be friends if she would allow it. Don't let a relationship that can't work out get in the way of having a friend. If she doesn't respond then just let it go. There are more ladies out there who might like to join you for dinner.

That is one of those "catching up" moments. I dunno, doesn't really hurt does it? What could you lose?
