Quite and excellent article. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It says most of what is wrong but even beyond that article there is yet more loss.
This is a big problem and we must stop it somehow. Focus on the employers is really the best. The question in my mind is has so much damage been done to our infra sturctures, that losing workers, buyers, users of product on top of the high prices we pay because of the illegals, what would the cumultive effect be. I gurantee you it would hurt us mightily in any number of ways but it would still be better than dieing at the hands of illegal invaders.

It is clear that the government is not serious about stopping them. If we could put a hundred thousand troops in Iraq, then we could have put them along the Mexican border. Heck, they wouldn't get shot at or blown up by IEDs, and the girlfriends could hang out in the nearby border towns!

But -- back to the question of cost: I do think they contribute to the economy. In my town last summer there was hailstorm with ice the size of baseballs. Roofs and siding all over town had to be replaced, and all the major insurance companies had teams of adjusters here. Then roofing contractors came in from all over seeking to do the work. After the contracts were signed, the workers turned out to be almost all Mexican. So, from the standpoint of responding to a need, they showed up fast and put new shingles on. Were they illegal immigrants? I don't know, and nobody was asking -- they just wanted their roofs fixed.

Anyway, illegals do pay sales taxes, and pay rent, and buy cars, and milk and TVs etc. And if they have bogus social security numbers they put money into the system that they will never get back. The same false IDs will cause them to pay federal and state income tax withholding. So I think they are probably paying their way. (I even heard of a case where an illegal had the stolen ID of some guy who was behind on his child support payments, so the state garnished the Mexican's wages.)

They are probably not hurting you unless you are competing for low skill work.

you've gotta be kidding in hundreds of ways each one in layers the cost of schools go up in lots of ways not only because the illegals hold the rest of the students back no one left behind means every one stops til they catch up they get free lunch special classes ect.Crime against Americans is rampant our jails are bustin at the seems with them how much does it cost to house feed cloth and watch an inmate.they kill thousands every year on our road ways drinking and driving is not just a way of life its a family tradition. they don't have doctors so they go to the er for a cold and not pay driving up health costs for the rest of us .And no7%tax on a candy bar doesn't balance it out.they don't get shot's where they came from they bring sickness and disease they tear up our national parks on the way through to get here.home invations are a saturday nite pass time yeah the cause a lot of harm in many ways and drive every one wages down and lower the standard of living for ever one whats so funny is most of them don't work at all under their name or any one elses and those that do most work under the table and don't pay any tax's
