Stay out of bars and keep your legs crossed. But seriously, it's a sign of maturity that you are cognizant of this problem. The worst thing you could do, for yourself and the unsuspecting guy if he cares for you, is to have meaningless sex. Many years ago, when I felt very hurt when a guy broke up with me, I went out on a beach with a guy fully intending to have sex with him, and when the time came, I just couldn't. He was good about it - though not very happy. I couldn't be that shallow and you apparently don't want to be either. Sex is a wonderful but special thing and should not be engaged in with someone who means nothing to you. Also, the beach scenario I describe above could have turned out very differently - the guy could have raped me. I went there without really knowing him.

Don't go out looking for a boy to have sex with or just use if you want to avoid a rebound. You need to spend time alone and focus on important matters not related to guys.

Gain weight and sit around the house awhile.
You'll want to lose the extra pounds, so that should keep you busy until the time is right to start dating again.
I did that once and it worked like a charm. Funny but true.

There's no reason why you can't go out. Just be careful to keep it casual. Don't hurt yourself or anyone else.
