Because we are selfish beings and true love between any of us requires selflessness. There aren't too many people who don't live in at least some state of apathy.

Its the way things have always been and I dont see it ever really changing. Some people expect that peace shall come to this earth and that someday we will live in a utopia. Don't count on it. If you are looking for a utopia you'd better hope theres something beyond this life.

That is an important question. If it could be answered with real clarity, the world would be a better place. Jesus came and told us that to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. He said it was the greatest commandment of all. It is easier to hate what is feared, instead of taking the time to learn and accept those that are different then us. It is easier to ridicule, put down, or tease others different than us or are smarter than us; rather than building them up and appreciating their contributions. It is our own lack of self-confidence that makes us hate. It is like we are all so afraid of failure that we cannot see that the abilities in others may be the perfect compliment to the abilities we have. We all have to take the time to appreciate others as we appreciate ourselves. Just like Jesus said. Really, the person that is eaten up in hate does not like themselves very much. It is always the same and always will be. We have to learn to love our enemies as well as our friends. Forgive them as well as our friends. But, mostly we have to love others as if they were us. Treat them as we treat ourselves. When we learn to do that, the world will be a better place.

It's really a dichotomy. Hate after all isn't really the opposite of love. In order to really hate someone, you have to care enough about them to invest your emotion of hate. That is why at times, one can "hate" those you love the most--because of the energy and investment of love on the other end of the spectrum.

I believe the TRUE opposite of love is not hate, but rather apathy. Apathy is the absence of love and is present when a person or society has no care whatsoever over what happens to another.

That is sadder than hate.

The most basic answer is fear and not being able to trust one another. This creates prejudice and anxiety which inevitably leads to conflict. Groups of a certain ethnicity, religion, or whatever maintain this conflict for decades thus creating a deep fear and prejudice of the other group known as hate. Probably not the dictionary definition.

Peace

Because people often get more caught up in the world and push the fundamentals of the Bible out of their lives. Somewhere along the way many have simply forgotten we are to love. Peter 1:22

We do not understand each other. We assume the other person is different because they are not of the same color like us, come from a different geographic location, don't speak like us. We want the other people to be like us and we do not appreciate the diversities. God was wise in creating a difference with us, taking out monotomy.

Because, hurt people, hurt people. There is often a need, behind the deed. Sorry to sound so cliche, but it is often true, though not an excuse ever. It is much better to get help, not hate and hurt.

we hate people because we don't know them. also we hate because we were raised to hate people. Its about prejudging people before getting to know the individual. Sometimes it easier to hate someone then it is to like them. hate will always remain unless we as people change. " History doesn't repeat it self we repeat history".
