Ok, I am a ball of jumbled emotions.

When I first saw it, I felt about 15 different emotions, and every time I see this again, I expereince even more.

Common ones are: happiness, joy, Confusion, despair, uncertianty, apathy, exhuberation, depression, anxiety, fear, anger, entertained, loneliness, emptiness, fullness, inquisitive, knowledgeable, rhythmic, clueless and down right puzzled.

How does this make you feel? I am so unsure if I should be offended, happy, indifferent... I have never experienced anything like this.....EVER.

What is the problem? He puts real Jewish ideals and lyrics into a different style. It's not that difficult. I don't even know why you're interested in him, he has nothing to say about J*sus.

If it's his style you don't understand, you can look up the lyrics on a webpage and read along as he sings, from then on you'll be able to understand what he's saying when you listen to the song.

He is definitely sincere. He is a Chassid and is honestly portraying himself and Judaism.

Matisyahu is part of a sect of Judaism called Hassidism which is one of the most conservative Jewish sects on earth. He has full permission from his religious mentors, leaders, and community to do what he is doing so I don't see how morally or spiritually anyone could have a problem with it.

That being said his music is really interesting and good and he has brought Hassidism maybe a bit more into the mainstream, while still holding complete respect for his faith.

Oh yes I think this is great!
I really think GOD would approve. I do!
Remember David danced before the Lord.
We are commanded to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
I dont understand why you would be offended? I think its wonderful to see a young Jewish man in the spotlight. There is a lot of anti-Semitism around (especially right here on YA). This (breaking stereotypes and using his God-given talents)can only be a good thing surely?

*EDIT*
I see what you mean now. I am certain he is sincere. Wouldnt hurt to see him interviewed though would it?
Shalom

He's sincere. He loved reggae before he committed to Orthodox Judaism. He's very much an Orthodox Jew now.

Personally, I don't like it, but that's a statement on his sound, not his religion or race.

My all-time very favorite singer, Sinead O'Connor, released a reggae CD in 2005. If a little bald Irish woman can do roots reggae, anyone can.

Matisyahu is a gifted musician, but he is not Rastafarian, nor is he a rabbi. Matisyahu is a Hassidic Jew. He belongs to the Hasidic movement called Chabad.
For more info on them, look here:

I apologize for being harsh, but it's true...

Matisyahu's own words: "I think for Jews it's like healing, almost - the mesh between their heritage and their culture and their Judaism, their religion, G-d, and also their Americanism and their American side."

Maybe the reason why you feel so confused is because you are missing HaShem...this song is about being close with HaShem and to remind us to never walk away from Him. If we do walk away from Him and serve a false god then HaShem will be like a King without a Crown to you because you don't see Him as a King, you serve someone else before Him...

really? That's all it takes for you? I mean, that's cool. I really get those feelings when I listen to Norah Jones, myself. This isn't my style of music. I like the soulful, jazzy stuff. That is pretty cool too. You're funny.

No, that's a serious video, but people do make fun. I saw it before.
