Your position is simply not born out by scripture. You say that not everything illegal is a sin. Well, God appears to disagree with you on this one. I'm kinda thinkin He just might have a better grip on this subject than you. The reason you like Elaine's answer is because it let's you do whatever in the flippin world you want to do.

Rom 13:1-2
13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities , for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
NIV

Rom 13:5

5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities , not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
NIV

Titus 3:1
3:1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities , to be obedient
NIV

God demands BOTH our hearts AND our OBEDIENCE.

1 Sam 15:22-23
"Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
NIV

No it is only illegal not a sin. The law considers it theft. I do not you are only taking a copy. It is however morally wrong. If you can live with that suit yourself. I hope you are not caught. OO

Are you really concerned about this since you say you are doing it anyway?

"You shall not steal"
Exodus 20:15

Can it get any clearer for you?

If you are concerned about sin, and wondering about salvation read and study the bible, man. It holds the answers to these important questions. Discover the truth for yourself.

I think it harms others

I do not believe in "sin" or a "god"

I go with ethics and character

I say things are good if it is mutually beneficial to all, and bad if not...sin is defined to openly by too many religions to begin to discuss

How do you expect musicians to pay their mortgages, and for their jewelry and cars if you steal music. Of course its a sin.

depends... if you are of The True Christian Faith or a Jew then you are under God's law and it would be a sin... if you are neithr then you are under man's law so it would be a crime... Christians and Jews are also under man's law so they to would be commiting a crime.... If you are not a christian or a jew then you are free to get away with whatever you can under man's law... and God's law dose not apply to you...as long as you are in this mortal world... in the next life you will answerb to God for your actions in this one... so you should concider looking into how you can come into compliance with God's law as well

NO. I refuse to believe that by not paying the rich it is stealing. What they charge for music is a crime.
