Yes, this is true. It seems it's all about entertainment and how best to increase membership numbers. People don't want the truth. The truth hurts. They want to be amused and entertained. They want a diluted message. A message that fits their own thinking as they try and define God and what He wants instead of what He has commanded. They want approval to keep sinning as they've been taught that God is love. They fail to grasp His wrathful and Jealous side. They are false converts who "fall way" at the first sign of trouble. They do not love God, they love the concept of God. They are not prepared for the attack of the enemy. They are not protected because God hasn't sent the Holy Spirit to them. So they leave the church. They decide not to believe. God didn't "help" them somehow or someway. They blame Him. They tell their friend about the god that hates them. Their anger grows as they become more and more lost. This is the product of watered-down teachings. A product of the traditions of men instead of God. Of course they never knew God, they were never taught the whole truth. They confessed with their mouth, but their hearts were not in it. That would be too hard you see.

I believe it's just another sign of the times. Paul told us that the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

Charles Spurgeon saw our time when he said: "Everywhere there is apathy. Nobody cares whether that which is preached is true or false. A sermon is a sermon whatever the subject; only, the shorter the better."

He also said this: "The need of the hour for today's ministry is believing scholarship joined with earnest spirituality, the one springing from the other as fruit from the root. The need is biblical doctrine, so understood and felt, that it sets men on fire."

And to that I give a hearty AMEN!

It's everywhere and we were warned. These days you have to be very careful who you listen to. Do not listen to anyone who preaches a different Gospel.
