My son (14) gained a large amount of weight over the past 2 1/2 yrs. - he dropped it amazingly fast when he started high school and took a strength and conditioning class as an alternative to gym. He and I both started drinking fruit smoothies every evening (these satisfied his sweet tooth and was healthier than ice cream or junk food). He started drinking more water and Propel, he's always drank a lot of milk, we added yogurt to his diet, and he started taking our dog out for more walks. It was amazing what a few small changes have made for him. One thing I forgot to mention is that we eat a lot of organic foods now (mostly fruits and veggies). Organic foods can make a huge difference for weight loss.
Just start out slow - drink plenty of water (try to cut out pop and drinks containing High Fructose Corn Syrup - do NOT substitute diet drinks as they are not healthy for anyone let alone someone your age), start walking and/or riding your bike more, eating more fruits and vegetables (esp. organics), make sure you are getting enough fiber in your diet. Pay attention to the ingredient labels on the foods you are eating. Exercise and strength training will go a long way in burning off excess pounds.
Good luck!

Limit the calories you eat every day to 1800. Be sure to read the nutrition labels on each item of food you eat. There you will find out how many calories are in one serving. For example, a cup of milk has 150 calories. I also know that a hamburger, fries, and a medium drink has 1000 calories. So, this is roughly half your calorie intake for the day. However, if you find you are more active, you may need more calories just to stay energized. Since you are young and your metabolism is higher than an adult, you might be OK on 2400 calories a day. Also, try to exercise everyday. If not, at least try to walk more. Good luck.

Easiest way is to start going for a walk after dinner.
Seriously, studies have shown that walking is more effective than running. It's strange, I know, but it works!
Also try to give up just ONE of the unhealthy things in your diet. Maybe drinks other than water?
I know this doesnt apply to you, but a friend gave up alcohol and lost 5kilos (10 pounds). So if you were to give up fizzy drinks that would be the teenage equivalent!
All the best!

In my opinion if you're 13 you're too young to get on any type of highly regimented exercise program especially with weights. I'd say go have some fun. Play a sport, run around, ride a bike don't just sit around and watch TV all day. Eat until you're not hungry anymore not until you're full and don't eat anything that can be categorized as fast food or candy. Just enjoy being a kid and try not to worry about your weight, you'll have plenty of time to do that when you grow up.

its actually the same as everyone else, buddy. push away from the sugary snacks, soda, and playstation and start exercising. At least twenty minutes a day, 3 days a week. In about a month everyone will notice the difference.

See a doctor and get referred to a dietician.
You shouldn't go on any diets unless your doctor says so.
YOu are still a growing boy and if you go on any diets on your own you could do more harm than good to yourself.
