When I pray, I feel as though something is terribly wrong. It is almost a horrified feeling.
Have you ever felt this way? What do you think is wrong?

It could be that you don't believe the words you're saying, don't fully believe your religion or it could be synapsis in your brain going off at random times and have nothing to do with faith.

I'm sure this is the point where a highly religious person would tell you to "pray harder because you'll find the way to Jesus" but I can't even say that that might be what you have to do because that's not what I believe. I don't believe everyone can find their way to Jesus and some people just need a different religion.

Actually, a lot of people. Doesn't mean they're right or wrong.

Don't be guided by feelings! The flesh is very unstable and you can place no confidence in it. just continue to pray and totally ignore your own feelings as feelings change all the time and you are communicating with the Lord through the Holy Spirit and not the flesh. The Lord knows all about the struggles we have with the flesh and thats why he said that "flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of heaven" and that we must be born again. That is to say we must experience another birth which is beyond our physical birth (born from above which means to be born spiritually as we have already been born physically) Jesus had struggles with the flesh too as the Bible states that he was tempted in every way we are and just consider what the Apostle Paul went through in his struggles with the flesh as found in Romans Ch.7 and mentioned again in Ephesians Ch.6 V10-18.
We will always have struggles with the flesh so don't be discouraged as the Lord knows all about it. I hope this has been of some help to you and may the Lord bless you in all you do!

Guess I would need more details. I do know that one time I was expecting to have a peaceful, spiritual experience in a specific place, but I kept feeling so sad and uncomfortable that it was puzzling. Later on, when I thought about who was near me, I realized some family friends only a mile or two away from where I was had lost their son to suicide a few days prior, and I may have been feeling some of the "icky" feelings they had been feeling. You might want to start asking if there is someone you need to go visit or call on the phone and see what happens.

You are starting to realize that there is no "God" who listens to your prayers and answers them, it's just been a tool to help you guide yourself.

The truth is that God is within you (and all of us.)

Don't worry, you don't need the crutch of the make-believe God: You (and all of us) can handle it on our own.

Congratulations, this is a rite of passage for you!

Keep on doing what you know is right, and you will be fine.

Don't forget to love everyone (even if you don't relate to them.)

There is over 500 times in the Bible "Fear not" or "Do not be afraid"...because God knows that we worry a lot. Keep praying, he will deliver Himself to you.
