pseudoephedrine (or sudafed) has a similar mechanism of action as meth and cocaine. they all work by indirectly releasing catecholamines like epinephrine. the main difference is that sudafed only releases epinephrine peripherally, whereas meth and coke cause central (meaning in the brain) release- that's why you get high with meth and coke but not with sudafed.

There are none that come close.

Methamphetamine is a member of the amphetamine family of drugs, which of course are central nervous systems stimulants. Technically it is a legal prescription, but most meth is manufactured illegally by chemically manipulating the over-the-counter decongestant pseudoephedrine (Sudafed). Despite the fact that meth can be made from Sudafed, Sudafed's effects do not even come close to meth.

Sudafed's cousin ephedrine was once widely used as a topical decongestant and as a bronchodilator for the treatment of asthma. Technically it is still available OTC, but its purchase is also subject to monitoring and it is very hard to find.

Some of the older nasal decongestants are available as inhalers, such as Vicks Vapor Inhaler (Levmetamfetamine) or Benzadrex (Propylhexedrine) Nasal Inhaler. They contain decongestants that are distant chemical cousins of amphetamine. People have been known to soak the cotton pledgets in water and inject the solution. Of course this is dangerous and some people have died.

Cocaine is a well known local anesthetic as well as a stimulant. It is the only anesthetic to possess stimulant properties. There are no O-T-C products that have a similar effect.

There are other stimulants, such as caffeine, but its effects are mild and well known.

Hope this helps.

Why would you even ask this question. Those drugs are both evil and nothing comes even close to either of those drugs. I am a recovering meth addict and the closest thing I have found to meth was drinking alot of coffee. But seriously why would you even ask a question like that????????
