well we scoop their poop and tend to their every need. sounds pretty smart to me.

Generally speaking, yes. But just like with humans, it depends on the dog. Some people are really smart, some are dumber than rocks. It depends on the dog, and the owner.

although, some dogs are intelligent from birth..

Yes!!! One of mine hard to go out I asked the other one if she had to go. She sat down and shook her head no 3 times. I said 'Thank you for telling me.' True....

they are actually smarter than ALOT of people I know
they have great senses about things as well (like how you are feeling, illness, etc...)
