downloaded movie, mpeg and avi format, how do i make a vcd out of it. got nero express 6. shows eror on burnin

hi. download movies, which r in mpeg, avi formats. i tried burnig it on cd through nero express 6, but it shows some kind of codec errorrs. have wasted quite a few cds on this. do i need the latest nero or convert the files in some other format. any help will be greatly welcome.

You need to have installed the proper codecs before you can burn them. Have you tried watching the movie files before burning? If your computer lacks the proper codecs, you wouldn't be able to watch it, much less create the VCD. And it's probably best, but not necessary, to convert your files to mpeg format before creating the VCD because that's what the VCD file is, a .mpeg with a .dat extension.

[COMPLETELY OPTIONAL] To make sure it works before burning onto a CD, select IMAGE RECORDER and burn (which saves an image to your desktop). Then, download, install, and run Daemon Tools. Load up the created image with Daemon tools and open up the several hundred megabyte .dat file with any Media Player. If you can watch it, then use Nero to burn the Image onto the CD (make sure you reselected your CD burner instead of Image Recorder).

The advice by the second user (who's talking about burning speed errors, when you clearly stated it was "codec errors") would be useful if your problem stated wasn't about codec errors.

Before you go to all the trouble suggested by the first answer, I would suggest first that you slow down the burning speed. In Nero when you get to the burning stage (adding the file) you have an "Options" choice at the bottom. Choose this and chose a slower speed. Example: 12X instead of 24X Sometimes your drive can't write successfully at it's maximum speed. Also, I would suggest not running other software while you are burning! This can cause burn errors too.
