I've sent letters and packages to a former student of mine in Bagdad, but his package I sent in October, just came back to me this week. It appears to have gone to Iraq and back to Texas, where he was previously stationed, before returning to Indiana to me.

Location of deployed military personnel is confidential mostly depending on branch. Best way send it to what ever fort he was deployed from and express on the package the situation.

Unfortunately, unless you are in the military yourself, there is no way to find out where someone is stationed until they themselves tell you or family members of the soldier find out for you. The recruiting office won't get you anywhere unless you are wanting to be in the military because they are obsessed with meeting their quotas. I know this sounds a little paranoid but because of security reasons, it's gonna be really hard to get that information from any source other than the solider and their family members. No one but them is authorized to give out that info even if they are stateside and not in country (deployed overseas).

I assume he was at Fort Hood since you said Texas you can try calling the post locator there. Unfortunately its true that if he is no longer stationed there they can not give you his new duty station. Going to his family or friends would be the best bet.

I'm not certain but I would think you need to contact a military resource who could direct you. I would start by calling a local recruiting office and asking for phone numbers. I think they would be more than glad to assist knowing you are simply trying to support a soldier.

His family should still be around, or you could try the Red Cross, they have a lot of luck locating people, but you need to be family (most of the time) for them to help you.
