The antennas you refer to (silver sensor being one of the popular ones) enable an HDTV that has an HDTV tuner (usually referred to as an ATSC tuner) to receive signals that are broadcast over the airwaves. It is like how people got TV reception before cable TV, they used and indoor or outdoor antenna. The TV broadcasters are required by federal law to convert to digital broadcasting and HDTV antennas allow ATSC tuners to receive these signals. If you bought one of these antennas AND if you were in range of the signals, you would only be able to catch the broadcasters in your area. ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, WB, PBS, etc. You would not be able to catch any of the cable channels like ESPN, TBS, CNN, etc.

The signals you caught, if being broadcast in HD would be HD. I use an indoor antenna with my Panasonic Plasma HDTV and have watched the NFL playoffs on FOX and CBS in HD. The quality is excellent.

definite it is nonetheless well worth having a PS3 inspite of out an HDTV ! Albeit an HDTV makes the interest portraits remarkable yet it is basically a graphical enhancement and does not upload or do away with something from interest play or enjoying the video games ! you may constantly get an HDTV in a while ! i offered a extreme high quality Vizio 32 inch for basically $six hundred ! Now it basically is going to 720p even with the undeniable fact that it is a 2nd television i take advantage of to play my PS3 on ! i've got additionally performed my PS3 on a SDTV and that i enjoyed merely as plenty ! particularly, do not hear to people telling you you may have an HDTV to appreciate the PS3 given which you do not want an HDTV even with the undeniable fact that it does improve the portraits !

Hi Def is not only the signal, but the capability of your TV. I have the hi def signal going to two of my TV's and one is a hi def TV and one is not. The hi def channels look better than the regular channels, but not nealy as good as they come on my hi def TV. I hope that helps.
