The background is that after she went to the hospital for an alcohol-related pancreas problem, he sent her a gift basket. Turns out she has money problems too:

BF: I'm not going to send her another gift basket or anything like that.
You: You're not...why not?

BF: Because she made me mad.
You: Uh, if she hadn't ticked you off, you'd send her another basket?

BF: No.
You: Why not?

BF: Because it's too expensive.
You: Wait, so if she hadn't made you mad and it weren't too expensive, you'd send her another one?

BF: No, you're making me nervous.

Do not over think this.. Some people are just nice to their ex's.. and too maybe he was just embarrassed.
take it with a grain of salt and do not worry about it..
as long as you two can talk about things and you are still together all is good!

i would not have this conversation to begin with. he can as a friend send one and only one- its suitable.. as he has you! no need to send and send once is enough.. and he is mad and it does cost a lot truth be known. but your making him nervous fro having feeling for her and he does and may always will and thats ok but the fact is he is with you .. so be mature and dont let him or her see your insecurity. if u had him and then u 2 broke up and he sent u a basket you would be happy to knwo someone out there cares.. so.. try to be in her place.. you pose no harm being in a hospital.. and.. i admire a guy who has that kind of caring ..which this says he does as a human being so....

why would he be sending her a gift basket? she is an ex, seems as if he still has some feeling's for her, and the questions u are asking him are hitting too close to home. he still has ties to her, still thinks about her, still wants to do nice things for her, but she is suppose to be in the past, as he now has a new girlfriend, who should be his priority.

Women have major problems. Men don't want to talk about that crap, really it's none of you business. My fiance ask's me **** like that all the time and if I was a woman hitter she would be black and blue with all the stupid questions she has asked that is none of her concern.

I think he still cares about her, but only in a friendship way. Do you know the history or how long they dated? Did she break his heart?

I do think that it was probably just a innocent nice thing to do. Don't grill him on it - he'll just resent you.

But always go with your gut.

I would think that you middle name must be Gestapo. I feel sorry for your boyfriend, if he gets the third degree like that for everything he does.
