It depends where in Africa you want to go. It takes about 17+ hours from Newark to London and London to Johannesburg. To get a more accurate flight time from where you are and where you're going, go to any airline website and make reservation and it will show you how it will take to your destination. It won't cost you anything.

it's going to take ages if you don't know where you have to land...
Tip: first get your destination, then check which airline fly the route, and the answer to your question will most likely be on their website.
