There are many problems and solutions that have to do with energy use. Probably the largest is the emission of CO2 (causing global warming) when fossil fuels are burnt. The solution is a process which turns the fossil fuel (coal, oil or natural gas) into hydrogen and CO2. The CO2 can be separated out and pumped deep underground. The hydrogen can then be transported in liquid or gaseous form and used as a fuel in cars, homes or power stations.
The process for converting fossil fuels into hydrogen and CO2 (steam reforming) is already widely used in industry.
