What causes eye twitching? And is it normal for it to last for more then 8 hours on and off?

No I dont have something in my eye.

I often get a twitch, but above my eye...it usually only last for a short time though. I get paranoid and think that everyone must be able to see it twitching! Go to your GP or an optometrist for an eye test, better to get it checked out than worry yourself about it! All the best.

Eye twitching can be caused from stress or eye strain.
It is not unusual for it to last off an on for many days.

Eye twitching or eyelid twitching may be a symptom of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), but can be a symptom for other conditions as well. It is not normal. If taking a few deep breaths and letting them go seems to relax and stop the twitching for a short while, then check out www.hufa.org for more info on how to get checked for low blood sugar.

Its normal. My eyes twitch like crazy when its strained and tired sometimes. Its usually not a sign of anything serious unless your eyeball twitches then that maybe neurological.

I have been told it is stress. I get eye twitching also.

I work at a microscope daily and I have recently started getting a twitching as well. I wish I could get rid of it...It's notcontinuous..i.t's occasional but it's disturbing indeed.
