A serious question for the ladies only on your opinion on music preference for guys (no bashing please). I know that in popular music culture, genres like grunge, alternative, etc. are pretty much the thing that everyone is into these days. However, I never really got into this kind of music. The music I myself seem to like listening to the best is "softer" rock. Examples: Jim Brickman, Chicago (their good stuff from the 80s and early 90s), even Air Supply. Don't get me wrong, I do like a lot of "harder" songs, but I just find the softer stuff to be more relaxing. Anyway, would this be something that would definitely turn you off in a guy? The reason I ask is because I am seriously debating putting a lot of the "softer" CDs into storage to avoid the risk of getting rejected since I am not into the more mainstream music styles.

never ever throw the things you want just to impress a woman- many women dont like mainstream music. i dont like alternative that much its too over rated, plus we women will not get turned off just because you love air supply, its actually sweet that you love classics, its something else to look forward too, you have your tastes, dont mind others, if you like jim brickman and chicago you must really be a sensitive guy, it could be a plus points for you.
for me i love reggae, ska, punk, jazz, rnb , any type of song and rhythm that could describe me
instead of putting those away find someone like you who can enjoy a relaxing music, find a woman who can understand and enjoy the same music with you
and do explore other music too, try reggae, its also very relaxing
singers like bob marley, sublime, peace pipe, and try other musicians and artist
you dont need to store those precious cd's away, have confidence!

well depends on what you are looking for in a girl. If you are just looking for a fling then you might have to change your self to what others like. If your are looking for something serious then don't change because you want a girl that you can be your self around and it is hard to keep up with the lies that you tell in the beginning of a relationship. Besides those band are good, you just have to find some one that likes them too, or some one that can understand that you can like different music and still like each other

I love the 80's and 90's type of music.
First off try other types of music. You don't have to completely chuck the music you like, you can like alot of different types of music.
Plus if a girl doesn't like you because of the type of music you listen to, they are obviously the wrong type of girl.

It wouldnt turn me off just because I loke the softer rock like you. I dont think it will turn off girls. My man wasnt turned of when he found out I liked it. I know...it is different for a girl to like it. Still, it shows that you have a soft side to you that would be appealing to lots of girls. Dont store it. If they dont like you cause of your taste in music then the girl isnt worth it. BE YOURSELF!

No, it wouldn't turn me off to YOU. Just don't make ME listen to that mess!
Anyway, if I found it in storage after we had been dating for awhile, I would wonder what else you were lying to about.
You don't see me hiding my white girl music to get the brothas to like me.

I like all kinds of stuff. Don't change yourself! If the guy doesn't like the music you like then he isn't right for you.
