Most people are too weak minded to accept their own mortality, so they grab onto the first philosophical concept that they are comfortable with (usually, religious nonsense passed on by their parents) It's only the unbrainwashed children, the ones that are inherently smart enough to see though it, and the ones that become sufficiently educated, that come to accept reality. Unfortunately, for now, we are in the minority.

Because thinking like an atheist requires either more denial or more faith. I will provide a few quotes you should think about before you make up your mind.
In Science and Medicine
"The principle of [divine] purpose ... stares the biologist in the face wherever he looks ... . The probability for such an event as the origin of DNA molecules to have occurred by sheer chance is just too small to be seriously considered ... ."Ernst Boris Chain - Nobel Prize in medicine
* The DNA in a single cell when un spiraled and unfolded would be over 18 inches long and there is just no model anywhere how a cell membrane could form.
"There is no incompatibility between science and religion... Science shows that God exists." - Prof. D. Barton, Nobel Prize Chemistry
Astronomy and the Big Bang
"If I had no other data than the early chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms and other passages of Scripture, I would have arrived at essentially the same picture of the origin of the universe, as is indicated by the scientific data." Nobel Prize-winning physicist Arno Penzias (Big Bang Theorist)
Just a few seconds after the Big Bang there was energy plasma, sub attomic particles and light. Genesis 1 starts with God saying "Let there be light"... sounds like the Bible was 3000 years ahead of science. Until Hubble science used to just say it has always been there.
Why even the atheist, who debated C.S. Lewis, Antony Flew said that the latest biological research "has shown, by the almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce (life), that intelligence must have been involved."
Scientific frauds such as Haeckel's embryo prints that were kept in science texts for 50 years after he admitted faking them.
"Ernst Haeckel’s drawings were declared fraudulent by Professor His in 1874 and were included in Haeckel’s quasi confession, but according to Richardson,
‘Haeckel’s confession got lost after his drawings were subsequently used in a 1901 book called Darwin and After Darwin and reproduced widely in English language biology texts."
Stephen Jay Gould the evolutionary paleontologist has criticized Haeckel's work .."In a March 2000 issue of Natural History, Stephen Jay Gould argues that Haeckel “‘exaggerated the similarities by idealizations and omissions.’” As well, Gould argues that Haeckel’s drawings are simply inaccurate and falsified."

Because he is real. You have the right to believe he is a myth, but it is a big wager you are taking, to not at least look into it. Maybe you have looked into it. If you have truly sought out truth, and your honest, logical mind, still reject the idea of a god, then that is your perogative, and you can go on your merry way. Others of us though, have thought hard, and some even really studied and come to the conclusion that there is indeed a god. So no, cannot take your advice and get over it. What I cannot get over, is that the God of the universe would want a relationship with you and me! Take care, and make sure your facts on the myth are correct. You would be missing out on too much.

There is a cure for ignorance.
Sadly, most are resistant to it. That is painfully clear on this board alone.
People believed the Earth was flat for the longest time, but eventually the truth came out. Took a while, but we now know the Earth is round.
Same thing with this whole blind faith/bible-thumping/close-minded behavior going on. It will be weeded out eventually, it just takes time. But, with the internet and improved communication, things should come along nicely.

God is no myth. He is real and He loves you. He is there, right now. Be quiet and listen. He is there for you. I pray in Jesus name you can hear him and feel His love and mercy this day.

People believe in God because, just like you, we have our own view on things. Just because you believe something doesn't make it right. People believe in God whether you like it or not. Get over it.

The belief in a deity is theological and based on belief. There is no concrete proof that the Christian Deity or any so-called Gods exist. But why knock it? Let people believe what they want.

Because He is real. how can you not believe in Him? How else can you explain existence? Say this universe was just one big accident, then the solar system was one big accident, then earth was one big accident, then life was just one big accident, which means when your parents had you it was one big accident.
