I have read about samoyed's grooming and you can give them a quick brush once a day or a proper one twice a week. Samoyeds don't need that much brushing and by getting a metal comb to brush their undercoat when they have their shedding season they won't shed all around your house so THEY DO NOT need multiple grooming.(this message is aimed at the person who said they needed multiple grooming!)

Sha Mate, gud da! I think the perfect first time dog is a spayed female Austrailian /red heeler/ blue heeler or Hearding collie.
Low maintanence and high master/patence level [They wait till 'you' get it right] they adopt families and house break easier than most others.
they are posseive by Herd instinct and can be loverlycompanions.
they train young ,But, never stop wanting to be trained for a more difficult task. At three years old you will probly want to get her&you trained to work open feild and some kind of STOCK Geese, goats, sheep, small cattle. Local Ag office and 4H are great places to learn without cash out or dealing with over achivers.

With persistance and consistancy you shouldn't have a problem with training. Groom a samoyed is never ending! Without constant grooming, you will have clumps of hair all over your home and a big matted mess. They shed heavily at least twice a day.

Hyper and in need of multple brushings a day. Large and in need of multiple brushings a day. Did I mention multiple brushings a day? If you have talked to a Samoyed breeder and done additional research and consider yourself responsible and are prepared to brush the dog multiple times a day, go for it.

no i don't think that is a wise decision. they do require lots of work. go with something very low maintenance first, then move up.
